Ed Napleton Kia, serving Elmhurst and the greater Chicago area, is pleased to offer the refreshed 2012 Kia Soul. The third-generation vehicle has gotten a face lift and a new selection of engines, making this compact car a serious alternative to any hatchback.
Soul Performance
The 2012 Kia Soul is available in three different trimsâ?" Soul, Soul+ and Soul! The base model Soul comes with a 1.6L 4-cylinder engine producing 138 hp and 123 lb-ft of torque, while the Soul+ and Soul! are equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder that engine pumps out 164 hp and 148 lb-ft. The base model's 1.6L engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, with the option of upgrading to the 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive that comes standard on the Soul+ and Soul!. These choices combine to give all Soul models over an EPA-estimated 30 MPG. The base Soul gets 27 city/35 hwy MPG, while the Soul+ and Soul! average 26 city/34 hwy MPG, ensuring visits to the gas station become less common. | |

Features and Options
Standard features across the board include air conditioning, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, tilt/telescopic steering column, floor mats, external temperature display, dual 12V power outlets and 60/40-split folding rear seats. The Soul+ and Soul! get the added stylings of a leather-wrapped steering wheel, metal finish trim on instrument panel and door panels, and black interior trim on cloth seats.
To provide the soundtrack for your daily commute, a 4-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3/SiriusXM audio system with USB/auxiliary input jack and Bluetooth wireless technology is standard on the Soul and Soul+. Tweeter speakers add clarity to high frequencies and come standard on the Soul+ and Soul!, though they are optional on the Soul. The Soul! gets a new, standard 4.3" UVO voice-activated touchscreen system (powered by Microsoft) and a 350-watt 7-speaker Infinity sound system with subwoofer and speaker lights, which is optional on the Soul+. Several packages also are available, including the Premium Package on the Soul! and the ECO package on the Soul and Soul+. | |

Safety
Equipped with class-leading standard safety features, the 2012 Kia Soul possesses the latest and most advanced safety systems. Its Advanced Airbags System monitors the severity of an impact, in addition to the presence of a front passenger and seat-belt use, and then controls airbag inflation accordingly. Other safety features include front active headrests, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, front seat-belt pretensioners, child seat LATCH system and full-length side curtain airbags.
